Code of conduct

Who this applies to

Everyone at a KDA session or event — players, committee members, referees, volunteers, spectators and guests.

What we expect

• Play fairly. Call yourself out when you're hit, whether or not anyone saw it.
• Accept referee and organiser decisions without argument, even when you disagree.
• Treat every player the same regardless of skill, age, gender, race, religion, background or ability.
• Make newcomers welcome. Someone taught you once.
• Look after the venue and the equipment.
• Turn up when you say you will, or cancel in time so someone else can play.

What isn't acceptable

• Abusive, threatening or discriminatory language, including as a joke.
• Sexual harassment, and any other harassment or unwanted physical contact.
• Bullying or excluding players because they are new or less skilled.
• Turning up under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Using photographs or video to harass, humiliate or defame someone.
• Damaging the venue, equipment or anyone's property.
• Representing KDA abusively, discriminatorily or misleadingly on your own social media or elsewhere online.

Safety on court

A ball that strikes any part of a player's body or clothing counts as a hit under the rules. Players may aim anywhere, although repeated headshots may be treated as a conduct matter.

Stop play immediately if someone is hurt. Report every injury to a committee member, however minor it seems.

Tournaments and sanctioned events

At KDOT and any other event sanctioned by the Malaysian Association of Dodgeball, MAD's and the WDBF's rules on banned substances and fair play apply in addition to this code.

Reporting a problem

If something happens at a session, tell whichever committee member is on duty that night — they are there to deal with it, and it is easier to resolve while everyone is present.

You can also email dodgeballkuching2022@gmail.com at any time. Reports are handled discreetly and shared only with the committee members who need to act on them.

If a complaint concerns a committee member, that person steps back and the rest of the committee handles it.

Nobody will be penalised for raising a concern in good faith.

What happens next

Most issues are settled with a quiet word. Where more is needed, KDA may issue a verbal or written warning, remove a participant from a session without refund, or exclude them from future sessions and events — judged case by case rather than against a fixed list of strikes. Deliberate damage to the venue or equipment may mean covering the cost of repair or replacement.

The committee keeps a brief internal record of warnings and incidents so the same issue can be recognised if it happens again. Records are kept for up to five years, may be accessed only by core committee members handling conduct matters, and are managed under our Privacy Policy.

If you're warned or removed and think it was unfair, you can ask the full committee to review the decision.

Serious matters — violence, threats, or anything involving a minor — will be escalated beyond the committee where appropriate, including to the venue or the authorities.

Feedback

We take feedback from newcomers seriously and use it to change how sessions run. If something about a session didn't sit right, tell us, even if it isn't a formal complaint.
